My Expectations
by His Holiness Guru-prasād Swami
My life's mission is demonstrating to others the principles, objectives and ideals that Srila Prabhupāda is giving us. He sacrificed his external comfort, both physical and spiritual, for our sake. That is more than I can hope to repay.
The main duty of a disciple is to put into practice what his guru desires. The principle objective of the guru is his mission, that which he establishes as the basis for serving Sri Guru and Gauranga. I have no other aspiration than to perfect the aspects of my service, in such a way that I may represent, in the most exemplary way, the foundation of spiritual life and the spiritual society which Srila Prabhupāda has bestowed upon us. Kṛṣṇa may allow me to do something additional by the mercy of His devotees.
One of the most challenging services is being a GBC. As I have experienced in other walks of life, whenever one has a leadership position, he is responsible for all results, both good and bad. I have found it even more so as a GBC. To me, being part of the GBC Body is an opportunity to be purified, to serve the greatest society of vaisnavas, to serve all of you, to become humble —many times by force—, and to please Srila Prabhupāda. I hope that all of you who have some appreciation for my service can help me to improve that service. If everyone tries to improve their spiritual life daily, assume the responsibility for their lives and solutions to their challenges it would help me tremendously to have more time.
I pray that with this website, devotees can communicate better, and look for answers to questions, and strive to cooperate in creating harmony between devotees, throughout the Movement, throughout the zone, in the temples and in each devotee's life. That is my humble desire.‹
